...the Texas Wildcatters visited North Charleston to beat the South
Carolina Stingrays, 6-4. (That puts South Carolina 18 points back of
the 'Catters, and the Stingrays have only 15 games left in the ECHL
regular season. (The win ensures that the Columbia Inferno can't catch
Texas, being 31 points behind with 15 games left.) Life is good in
the State of Pro Hockey. ;-)

Idaho lawmakers pass bill to head off illegal immigration
Chad Groening - OneNewsNow - 2/29/2008 12:30:00 PM
Idaho-based pro-family activist Bryan Fischer is praising his state's
legislature for taking a major step to curb illegal immigration in the Gem
State.
Fischer, executive director of the Idaho Family Alliance, is pleased that
the legislature has overwhelmingly approved a bill that will prohibit
illegal aliens from obtaining a valid driver's license in the state.
Lawmakers in Boise, he feels, are taking a responsible approach.
"We see this as an important tool in controlling illegal immigration in
Idaho. We don't have a huge problem with illegal immigration [here] yet,"
says Fischer. "But I think what our legislators are doing is trying to get
out in front of the curve and trying to take some proactive steps now."

They call themselves 'liberals' but if pro-choicers have it their way, all
the colored babies will soon be dead. That is pure racism.

MLK's niece: 'Abortion a racist, genocidal act'
Jim Brown - OneNewsNow - 2/29/2008 10:00:00 AM
The niece of Martin Luther King, Jr., has used an appearance at a Black
History Month event in Washington, DC, to reject the claim that her famous
uncle supported abortion rights for women.
Dr. Alveda King says although her uncle -- the late civil rights leader
Martin Luther King, Jr. -- accepted an award from Planned Parenthood in
1966, the abortion group had a "hidden agenda" at the time. "I don't want
anybody to be confused by thinking that Dr. King could condone the violent
death of the little babies, and the violent consequences that women suffer,"
King clarifies. "I'm post-abortive myself. I've suffered ... and it was a
secret in my family for too long. And so now we're here today to speak out
on behalf of those who cannot speak for themselves. Abortion is a racist,
genocidal act."

These Darwinists are getting ridiculous; now they have the abortionists
singing their tune. And they say Christians are crazy?

Legal Expert Claims that Unborn Babies are Really Chimpanzees
MEXICO, February 29, 2008 ( LifeSiteNews.com) - A former attorney general and
human rights commission chairman is claiming that unborn children in the
earliest stages of development are not human, and are in fact chimpanzees.
Dr. Jorge Carpizo McGregor claims that "for the topic of abortion, there are
very important scientific advances that prove that the DNA of chimpanzees is
99 percent identical to that of a human being. The difference between
ourselves and chimpanzees is one percent, this quantity that makes the
difference is the central nervous system."
"Before twelve weeks of gestation, there is no cerebral cortex, that is to
say, there is no human being, the cortex is formed around the 25th week.
This is a very important piece of information because those who attack
abortion say that a human being is being killed and it isn't true."
"That's ridiculous," said Dr. John Shea, medical advisor to Canada's
Campaign Life Coalition. "This is the most ignorant remark I think the man
could possibly make. He must be totally ignorant of science."

Head of Pontifical Academy for Life Reconfirms Morning After Pill Cannot be
Used Even in Cases of Rape
By John-Henry Westen
VATICAN CITY, February 29, 2008 ( LifeSiteNews.com) - Bishop Elio Sgreccia,
President of the Pontifical Academy for Life, spoke with LifeSiteNews.com
Tuesday on the subject of the use of the morning after pill in cases of
rape. Catholic hospitals in several dioceses in North America are currently
administering the pill (Plan B) to patients who claim to be victims of rape.
According to Bishop Sgreccia, however, the morning after pill may not be
administered by Catholic physicians. The only Vatican opinion on the
subject, absolutely prohibiting the use of the pill, was released by the
Pontifical Academy for Life in 2000. Since then, however, the Catholic
Health Association, advisor to many bishops conferences, has suggested that
there is no moral impediment to using the pill in cases of rape. Several
bishops conferences have followed the advice and permitted administration of
the drugs in Catholic hospitals in cases where rape is asserted.

Author admits making up memoir of surviving Holocaust
By David Mehegan
Globe Staff / February 29, 2008
Eleven years after the publication of her best-selling Holocaust memoir - a
heartwarming tale of a small Jewish girl trekking across Europe and living
with wolves - the Massachusetts author yesterday admitted the whole story
was a hoax.
In a statement issued by her Belgian lawyer, Misha Defonseca of Dudley,
whose book, "Misha: A Memoire of the Holocaust Years," has been translated
into 18 languages and is the basis for a new French movie, "Survivre avec
les Loups" ("Surviving With the Wolves"), confessed that she is not Jewish
and that she spent the war safely in Brussels.
The 1997 book was the center of a multimillion-dollar legal battle pitting
Defonseca and her coauthor, Vera Lee of Newton, against publisher Jane
Daniel of Gloucester. The book was a bestseller in Europe and Canada, and
attracted attention from Walt Disney Co. and Oprah Winfrey, but it sold few
copies in the United States, largely because the marketing stopped after the
authors sued.

This teacher should be commended for a job well done. Whether people like it
or not, there are some stupid kids; it's best that they learn this early in
life. It will make planning their future a much easier job for both them and
their parents.

Pre-K teacher accused of calling children 'stupid'
By ERICKA MELLON
The Houston school district is investigating allegations that a Memorial
Elementary School teacher repeatedly called her 4- and 5-year-old students
"stupid" and said she had a right to be mean to them.
The comments were captured on a recorder that a mother had placed in her
daughter's backpack before school, according to published news reports.
"If it's true, it's a serious breach of a teacher's responsibility to
children, and it will be dealt with swiftly and surely," said Houston
Independent School District spokesman Terry Abbott.
The Memorial Elementary principal, Art Castillo, said in a prepared
statement that he removed the pre-kindergarten teacher from her classroom
after receiving the audio recording this month. The school is near Memorial
Park.

Holy crap! John McCain picked up an endorsement from Pastor John
Hagee, a crazy, Apocalypse Wow, bigoted-against-all-kinds-of-people-
especially-Catholics whack-job. And McCain did not merely offer a
demure thank you, he enthusiastically accepted and embraced Hagee's
endorsement.
Guess whose nose is out of joint? Our old friend Bill Donohue,
president of the Catholic League. In a press release, he says:
"[Hagee] has waged an unrelenting war against the Catholic
Church. For example, he likes calling it 'The Great Whore,'
an 'apostate church,' the 'anti-Christ,' and a 'false cult
system.'
You can read Glenn Greenwald's interview of Donohue here:
http://www.salon.com/opinion/greenwald/2008/02/28/donohue/index.html
This must be the first time I've ever agreed with Bill Donahue on
anything. It's a very odd feeling. Or maybe it's the leftover
lasagna I had for dinner.

Stay up w/ Laura Schlessinger
Old Ms Laura is about as close to a Hollywood "movie" as she'll
get... the buzz is on for the world premiere of Citizen McCaw.
"Shot in digital high definition and running 85 minutes long"
http://craigsmithsblog.blogspot.com/2008/02/citizen-mccaw-filmmakers-are-lawyered...
I can guarantee she didn't give an interview. Maybe in 85 minutes she
is mentioned for 30 seconds? It is journalism, news print media and
Wendy P. McCaw as co-publisher that inspired the documentary.
"The movie covers virtually every significant event or milestone at
the Santa Barbara News-Press since editor Jerry Roberts and his top
assistants resigned in July of 2006." Smith
"The national figures include Ben Bradlee, Editor of the Washington
Post during the Watergate scandal, Professor Alex Jones of Harvard
University, former News-Press publisher and now publisher of the
Boston Globe, Steve Ainsley and journalists Ann Louise Bardach, Lou
Cannon and Sander Vanocur. Those last three are all local residents."
Smith
Schlessinger runs her writing business along the same lines as McCaw.
Biased and disregard for others freedom of speech.
