to die in February but her family's Catholic and for them, life is sacred."
So begins the television coverage by the BBC of a battle by a Birmingham
family to prevent the NHS from dehydrating their mother to death.

According to the BBC's report, doctors decided on a Friday in February that
Mrs. Westwood was "due to die" by the following Monday, but the family, with
the intervention of their priest, fought the order to remove the woman's
hydration.

The Parents Television Council (PTC) says arguments made by the ABC
television network in defense of their airing graphic female nudity on a
former drama series are so absurd that they rate as better comedy writing
than most of its current programs. In addition, the watchdog group is
criticizing ABC for challenging an indecency fine levied upon it by the FCC.

PTC media analyst Melissa Henson says the February 25, 2003, episode of NYPD
Blue in question, contained a rear view of a nude woman. "It's obviously
intended to be provocative; it was obviously intended to be shocking," she
says of the scene, which PTC says included "saucy" background music and
"ogling" by the camera. "ABC knew full well what they were doing," Henson
continues, "and I think it's ridiculous for them to try to claim now, after
the fact, that there was nothing sexual intended in that scene -- when that
clearly was not the case."

Radical liberals will accuse Dr. Stevens of being a hateful person. More
logical people will see the genuine concern the Christian Medical & Dental
Associations has for these deeply disturbed people. They need a good

The American Medical Association meeting in Chicago has taken action that
was not totally unexpected. The organization has adopted a resolution
encouraging insurance companies to provide coverage, including surgery, for
transgendered people - that is, people who believe they should be the
opposite gender. The surgery reworks part of the body. Dr. David Stevens of
the Christian Medical & Dental Associations (CMDA) says it is not only
immoral, but also doesn't treat the real problem.

"Well, the Bible does tell us very clearly that mutilation of the body is
wrong, and it's sad that these people have this psychological disorder --
but it should be treated from a psychological perspective," Stevens
contends.
