I've watched what little I can of the Olympics, odd moments here and there
... enough of women's gymnastics to want to count the teeth of those Chinese
girls. 16 y/o, c'mon. I am not so jingoistic that I can't stand it when
another country wins, but I do want everything to be fair. Those little
immature bodies are more lithe, easier to bend than a woman's body.

Anyway, I root for the best ones to win, and feel sorry for the ones who
goof up. They have all worked so hard and lived for this moment. Even the 12
y/o Chinese gymnasts who were taken from their family at the age of 3....

I love the swimming and diving, can't believe how they're setting so many
world records. Can it only be the new high-tech full body swimwear? Or is
Michael Phelps really part dolphin? I am fascinated by his size 14 feet.

One thing I want to bitch about is women's beach volleyball ... a lot of
sexism is manifested in the choice of competition uniforms. Who chooses them
anyway? Women have to wear those sand-up-yer-tootie bikinis, and the men get
more comfortable shorts down to their knees.

But then again ... the competitors wearing the least in these games have to
be the male divers.
