What's in your morning paper?

The Associated Press (SW Oklahoma, USA)

"Rattlesnake festival coming to Waurika

WAURIKA -- The 47th annual Waurika Rattlesnake Hunt will slither back to the
Jefferson County seat's downtown Friday through Sunday.

The festival will feature James White and the Outlaw Handlers from Granbury,
Texas, as they perform daring feats with live rattlesnakes in the snake pit.
The butcher shop will have snake meat, rattles and hides available for
souvenir hunters. There will be gift and souvenir stands, along with
concessions specializing in deep-fried rattlesnake meat. Visitors also can
have a picture taken with a live rattlesnake."

Heh...sometimes we're hard pressed for entertainment out here on the
prairie.

I've tried that. Didn't like it *at all* - very fatty and a slightly
odd flavour.

Plus I get annoyed when people talk about eating something repellent and
then say "but it tastes like chicken" ... well why not fuck off and have
some chicken then? :)

We talked about this before, and I think if you had fresh meat nuggets,
dipped in batter and deep-fried, you might change your mind.

And not be able to tell everyone you ate rattlesnake? Gah, what a buzzkill.
lol And yes, a little like chicken...with some white pork thrown in. :-P

A lot of our Okie pioneers survived hard times eating 6 ft rattlesnakes.
