As some of you may know Karen and I build and fly large kites and we have been
honoured by having one of our kites nominated for the 'Kite of the Year' award
for 2006 at the Kitebuilder.com forum!

I made a step-by-step build log of the entire process that ran to a total of 21
pages and has received more than 6,000 views to date and can be seen here....

We are up against 11 other kites for the title and voting ends on January 30 so
it is going to be interesting to see how we fair. Voting (and viewing the other
nominees) is restricted to forum members only I'm afraid so you would need to

I've had a go on my son's big kites and they are huge fun. Much more
fun than one might expect before trying it. When I fly one, I am often
giggling out loud like anything and am left with a fixed grin at the
end that won't go away. He has one monster of 5 metres or so that is
pretty scary to fly in anything more than the merest puff of air.
