Rationalisation, pure and simple.

Ah, theological nit picking tends to be attached to translations of
that. AndrewR is the one to ask about the Catholicism. Seriously. It's
not my specialist area, it is his.
Also Phil L, his version of christianity is (thinks how to phrase
this) far purer than the catholics

exactly your standard Catholic, I'll ask her.

No. It's little to do with liturgy and more to do with sociology.

No. What is your source for this?

Can you give me your figures for that population?

Is that catholic with a "c" or Catholic with a "C"? The senior

I stand by what I say, which is a generally-accepted synopsis -
without citation - of the dynamics of very early Christianity.
If you care to elaborate, please enlighten us. There are probably
several theories with variations.
[You know, while I was addresing the topic I was talking to my friend,
via Skype, in Pennsylvania. He attended seminary for a number of
years but did not become ordained. We both agreed on my analysis]
