Vinyl LPs See A Rebirth In Modern Market

Music Fans Expected To Buy 1.6 Million LPs In 2008, Citing Desire For A
Purer Sound

After the Portland-based retailer Fred Meyer bought the vinyl version of
R.E.M.'s new album by mistake, the company found out something interesting
when it put them on the shelves: Customers snapped them up. A resurgence in
the format is being driven by Fred Meyer and other retailers, including Best
Buy and Amazon.Com, who cater to vinyl fans who like the sound and artwork
over CDs and MP3s.

Well, all rightie then...and maybe my bouffant will also come back into
style .....

No kidding, to my ear, the sound from vinyl is more pleasing and warmer.
Digital music sounds harsh sometimes. Vinyl seems to have a fuller, richer
quality than CDs , just put on a pair of headphones.

Thank goodness I didn't go the way of my friends and sell all my vintage
stereo gear...high dollar turntables, tuners and receivers (2 each). Almost
everything that they sold is now worth far more than they originally paid
for it.

Welp, I have a lovely Marantz receiver (German?, so heavy I have trouble
carrying it by myself), a nice Kenwood tuner, a JVC integrated amp, a Sony
turntable and a Technics turntable ...there's more but it's packed away.

Not sure...I inherited an old, and very odd, LP collection from a family
elder. He had one by Leonard Nimoy (Dr. Spock), singing, that was very
funny.
