Just got back from the weekend long Scooter rally in New Orleans. Had a
blast riding with thirty plus scooters, tooting noisily all the way..
Friday night was registration and beer at Finn McCools, Saturday started
at the local vespa dealers for continental brekkie, then split into two
rides: one to destrehan Plantation where the were rock bands and a car
show, or off to The D-Day Museum, thence through the CBD and up Canal to
the British Car Rally (which is where I would have been with the Hillman
Minx otherwise- and there was a '58 Minx Sedan there!), and then
finishing at The Bulldog pub on Canal Boulevard where the Destrehan
riders would meet with us. Then off for a few hours till a private
showing of 'Quadraphenia' then a dance till very, very late.
Sunday was meet at Lakeside Starbucks, collect people at Esplanade CC's,
then ride completely through New Orleans to Audobon Park for a BBQ.
Quite exhausting but I enjoyed every minute. I haven't ridden with a
crowd since the 60's so it was memorable from that POV if nothing else.
