My brother Simon, my parents and I are thinking about what to do for a
holiday next year. We are thinking about a (large) houseboat on the
great lakes and/or the canals in that area. Any of you done anything
like this and do you have any suitable links or email addresses?

I know nothing of the Great Lakes but there is a lot of Houseboating
in my part of Canandia ....

Yes, I can see that could be a problem. You can get pretty big waves on
some of the Lochs in Scotland that we went through, but they are not
quite that large and the lock keepers won't let you on if it is not safe.
