No offense to anyone who puts on these public displays, but I find them
really boring because they're so distant and detatched from me. There's
no thrill. I might as well be watching a screen saver on my computer.
Plus they're the same year after year. I only like personal fireworks,
stuff you can set off yourself and see up close and personal, with all
the smell, smoke, sparks, danger, noise, and scorched fingers.

Indeed. Although I have to say that some of the public displays around
the world for the millennium celebrations were amazing, Sydney and
Paris in particular, I, too, prefer the excitement of the domestic
variety of firework; almost every year on Guy Fawkes Night, we nearly
set fire to our shed with a "Catherine Wheel".

Well, it's 40+ minutes into NBC's (World Headquarters at Rockefeller
Center) live telecast, and it's still F'n amazing! eh Besides the
couch, the best spots to watch it from: Brooklyn Promenade & along the
FDR. If you are lucky enough to have seats near the actual host stage,
the view is unparalleled!! -D, NYC "The most beloved anthem (God Bless
