Candy, my wife is a gero-psych nurse, and when I worked with her at the
Nursing Home. I saw first-hand the care extended to these people.

There were some that were really nice old ladies, just a bit confused,
who were in a section devoted to them. A full-time activities lady would
try to interest them in all manner of things during the day. The
potential violent ones had a full-time nursing assistant with them at
all times during the day.

I wouldn't have had the patience.

My Nan suffered from it, and I had to drive her from Cheltenham to E.
London in my Ford Pop (sit-up-and-beg) - max speed 45mph. (No motorways
then) and after 4 hours I was near to screaming in frustration and my
wife was in tears.

Death, when it comes is a blessed relief, for all concerned imo. Sad.
but true.

Same experience here: My first thought after my mum passed away was, 'Thank
God I'll never have to go to Stevenage again ever................"
