New Delia

I finally got around to watching the new Delia on Friday ...

... it's weird. Proper weird.

Never mind the "cheat" attitude to cooking, I can live with that, and
don't have a major problem with it - I tried her new "cheats", low fat
hollandaise (so-so - better than no hollandaise, not as good as the real
thing) and her onion and sage tarts (excellent) on Saturday night -
(ready-made tart cases are absolutely The Way Forward) but there's
something about the way they're portraying her now that's ... well it's
proper weird.

I thought at first it was merely a slightly less frumpy Delia, but it's
not that. I thought it was possibly the "I'm a normal person, me" thing
(yeah right - she's worth *millions*), but no.

No idea ... didn't realise it had been re-released.

Well she did come up with some very strange stuff (by her standards),
including using frozen mashed potato and frozen rosti as ingredients,
and what looked like a very interesting sauce for frozen potato wedges,
using piri-piri and walnuts, among other things. I'm keen to try the
latter as it sounded really nice.

No idea. I download TV from UKNova, rather than watch it when it's on.
I watch so little TV (maybe a couple of hours a week) that I prefer to
do it that way. Looking at the torrent details, it would *appear* (and
they're not always correct, since it's when the torrent was produced,
not necessarily when it was aired) to have gone out on 10/03/2008 on
BBC2, but again, check with one of the listings sites.

I've got one of these:

I've also just realised who Slater reminds me of:

Alan Bennett.

Really? I'll keep an eye out for that, thanks.
