It really depends on what you need it for.

Scooting up to the shops, or parking in a dense city are tasks made for
a scoot.

Long distances, rain and night-time rides all argue against.

Modern 4-stroke 250cc Vespas are totally reliable and user friendly, if
pricey for what you get. But mark my words - a new vespa bought today
will sell for the same money next year.

On NO account buy a Chinese scooter for at least three more years.

Oh, and you can wear normal clothes to ride a scooter.

Plus you look so much cooler..
