I can see you all again...sort of

I had lens implant surgery on Tuesday. I'd been suffering for about a month
with cataracts in both eyes (worse in the right than the left) and so I had
the lens replaced on the right first. Will do the left in about 6-8 weeks.

Right now, I am wearing my previous-to-surgery spectacles and it's a bit
like looking normally through the left side with the right side feeling as
if I'm looking through someone else's specs. After both eyes are done, I
will be at 20/25 vision for the first time in my life.

For anyone who's not had this done, they do the surgery whilst you are fully
awake and cognizant of your surroundings. It was really weird. It was like
watching a psychedelic light show while the doctor was explaining what she
was doing. Priot to the surgery they dilated and then put some lidocaine gel
in the eye. In the operating theatre they gave me a mild sedative that was
mostly just to relax me.

The surgery started at 10:28 AM and I was back in the parking garage and in
the car with my dad by 11:15 AM under my own power. When I got home I took a
5 hour nap. The patch came off today. I go back to jbex tomorrow.

Outstanding :)

(well, apart from the back to work thing, obviously).

Woo! Go you! :)

Cool - I had the same effect from laser surgery and it's just
wonderful! :)

A couple of years ago just reading this would have made me feel faint
but I can really identify with the light show bit - it's really weird!

My mother had both eyes done (like you, on different dates) a few
years ago, and made a good recovery. I hope all goes as well for you
too.

Ya there was that....it was pretty rough today. Looking at the computer was
not easy. But I got more work done that I thought I would, so that's a good
thing. But one day at a time, I'll get better...and then, I'll do it all
again.

Thanks, sweetie...I'm really looking forward to being able to show off my
green eyes.

Great, I'm glad it all went well. You should've gotten more time off work
though.
