When my children were younger and if I was short of money (which was
often), I sometimes used to feed them on "hot dogs", which just meant
a loaf of sliced brown bread, a pan of simmering water with a packet
of frankfurters heating up, and they could "make their own" - slice of
bread, one frankfurter, and smother it in ketchup. Repeat until full.
And they say catering for kids is hard!
