Last Saturday I had a stall at the Freret Street Market. I sell stuff I
have bought at estate auctions that I can't sell on ebay (glass, china,
books etc). Whilst I made $200 clear, it is very wearing on the (old)
body in terms of back, shoulder and hip aching, plus heat (50F all day).
But there are live bands all day, wonderful food stall (Mufflettas are
gorgeous) and loading, unloading the car (twice) is a pain but overall,
I had a good time. I think I might have made a good barrowboy!
Then, on Sunday, it was time to move the boat.
My lease expires on the 5th Novemeber, and I wanted to get out of the
Slidell Marina and move the boat to the newly cleared NO Municipal
Marina (where mooring is free while they are still repairing the
infrastructure). So, I get a 45 min lift to the yard, started the motor
and unmoored ready to move off. I could hear a whee-ing sound and on
investigation saw the fan belt had been gently shredding a bit and was
now making the squealing sound. The only lubricant I could find was some
spray-on PAM cooking oil.
That didn't work.
I also found that the batteries (all 8) were knackered.
