I'm trying not to cry - my beloved Swift PP2000s got a major drenching
on the journey home from the IoM [1], and even careful drying (well
blotting, rather than drying) has shown up they're slightly fucked - a
finger seam has parted, and they're feeling a tad "crispy" to the touch.

So what's the current best choice for an ultra-lightweight, maximum-
feel, leather glove?

[1] it was bucketing down from the M6/M1 junction, all the way down to
Luton, and drizzling thereafter

Guy goes to the doctor, disrobes, and the doctor exclaims, "man,
you've got five penises! How do your pants fit?

"Like a glove", he answers.

A very technical device known as a needle and thread will fix the finger seam. ;-)

Re. the 'crispy' effect go to an outdoor sports/camping outlet and pick up a tin
of Nikwax. It's a bit like dubbin but 500%% better. I used to rub it into all my
leathers (boots, jacket, trousers, gloves etc.) and it makes the leather as soft
as kid skin and also makes it 100%% waterproof, water just rolls off it.

On gloves designed to take a 100+ mph tumble? I'd rather not, thanks.

On the basis that you went over for the TT, I have no sympathy
whatsoever. Envy? Yes. Sympathy? None! :o)

Absolutely no idea, old chap! This being the internet though, I'll
still claim an arsehole^W opinion and recommend Alpinestars as they
make by far the best race gloves for cars - not quite totally
irrelevant for bike gloves but close to it! :~)

I may actually be interested in the answer though as I'm getting
tempted to get a bike licence. Mid-life crisis ahoy! :o)

Your fault for not popping in for a cuppa on your way down the M6! ;-P

Can I just point out that it was *perfect*? Ta :)

Stayed in the flat underneath the one belonging to one Slick Bass, met
old mates and had a laugh, met newer ones and had a laugh.

Basically ... had a laugh :)

Our mate Bruce wears by deerskin gloves.

SimonP says, 'I'm sorry but I sweat battery acid and swear *at* deerskin
gloves. I buy cheap gloves, and toss 'em often.'

Odd doesn't get to ride enough to stress her cheap gloves ...
