Through a combination of happy chance and large quantities of alcohol, I
found myself in Watford on Saturday morning and, feeling peckish and
slightly the worse for wear, I decided to go back to the Watford Cafe,
my fave greasy spoon ever.
Well, things have changed ... moving with the times, the battered radio
has been replaced by a flat screen showing MTV Hits, the menu on the
wall is now a "proper", plastic type one similar to most fast food
joints (not something I ever like the look of), rather than hand-written
cardboard ...
... but I'm pleased to say the food was as excellent as ever it was.
They're still using the same bacon supplier, so none of that wishy-
washy, thin crap, oh no - it's still the same thick, flavourful stuff it
always was, the eggs are still excellently cooked (not overcooked),
rich, orange-yolked beauties.
I've always thought their saussies were the weakest link in their chain
- not bad per se, just not as good as the rest, and that hasn't changed;
still, mustn't grumble.

The owner of the li'l supermarket in the town saw me looking at the
ham/pate/smoked salmon (smoked salmon was same price as ham) and
whispered "pszzt! wanna fresh fish? got some fresh sole in the back"[0].
I put down the salmon and said yes gleefully. He brought out a small
fish of the sole family, indeed very fresh - caught in the estuary and
landed at the small port just down the road. He skinned it and took out
the squidgy bits.
I have cooked it in butter with the merest delicate dusting of black
pepper; sauteed potatoes, a little salad, and some very crusty baguette.
*happy sigh*

Aika omituista näissä nettiviestinnöissä on malli "Stalin" läpimeno. Eli
Todellisuutta tällaisessa ökyilyssä on tuskin senttiä enempää totuusreaalia.
Eli faktat alkuun: Kun maahamme iski massiivinen "lapsipornosekoseko".
SUPO:n lanseeramana keppihevosena alettiin tosiaan sen...

Considering that my first long-hair, thirty years ago, was a Silver
Persian whom I named "Lloyd-George" - actually, then, "David's
Lloyd-George", I have decided to call her.........
"David's Moggie-Thatcher"
(Miss Moggie for short)

The sticking to the sides thing is a problem whatever method one uses.
Personally, I add a little (a very little, just to replace what will
evaporate away) and cook slowly in a saucepan, stirring *constantly*.
Then I clean the saucepan *before* I eat.

i've made scrambled eggs like that many times. just keep stirring and don't
wander off, and they won't stick so much.

Linjojen
pitäjillä/SUPO:lla kun on lakimääre tunnistaa KAIKKI kirjoittajanimet, koska
netti rinnastetaan juridiesti lehtikirjoituksiin. Yhtä kaikki tuli tuosta
nimimerkki kampamaneeti alias Ilkka Karailan, eli tutummin IK:n
