  The Blonde.....again

Author: phylkat
Date: Jan 27, 2008 04:24

A blonde and her husband are lying in bed listening to the next door
neighbor's dog. It has been in the backyard barking for hours and
hours.

The blonde jumps up out of bed and says, 'I've had enough of this'.
She goes downstairs.

The blonde finally comes back up to bed and her husband says
'The dog is still barking, what have you been doing?'

The blonde says, 'I put the dog in our backyard, let's see how THEY
like it.'

  OT Film review

Author: Harry Keane

We accidentally[1] went to see "Dan In Real Life" yesterday. I wasn't
expecting it to be much good, as it was only a "PG" (so no sex or violence -
D'oh!). It turned out to be quite funny and heart-warming, in a
non-schmaltzy way and I ended up feeling that I'd been entertained. Steve
Carrell was really good.

just because it was the next film due to start...

2 good films in a row

After the disappointment of "No Country For Old Men", which seemed
targeted at the terminally pretentious, I've seen a couple of movies I
*did* enjoy, for very different reasons.

"300" - very little in the way of plot, heavily stylised, violent,
watchable. Think "Sin City" meets "Gladiator", only with an even
thinner plot. Liked it though. Great special effects, in a quiet way.

"This Is England": the best movie I've seen in quite a while; puts me in
mind of Mike Leigh, only with more substance. Some good performances,
an excellent script, not just a "black & white" view of the racial
tensions, but heaped with realism, and for those who were in the UK at
the time, a really evocative recreation of the period, and the feeling
of a nation somewhat at war with itself. Even the main "villain of the
piece" seems as much at war with himself as with others.

Joe-Bob Bear says check it out :)

If you are taking a baking dish out of a 200C oven and are using a
pair of oven mitts, it's a good idea to make sure that there aren't
any holes in the ends of the oven mitts where your finger tips can
poke out.

Take it from me, this is a good idea.

A guy goes to a bawdy house, and says to the madam, "I've only got
$2.00' can you help me out?"

The madam tells him that there's a dead prostitute in room seven that
he can have.

So he goes up and a little later comes back down.

He says to the madam, "Hey! That was great - really good, but only
one thing............her nose kept running."

"Oh! She's probably full up", says the madam.

himself, I humble him; if he humble himself, I exalt him;
and I always contradict him, till he understands that he is an
incomprehensible monster.

421. I blame equally those who choose to praise man, those who choose to
blame him, and those who choose to amuse themselves; and I can only approve
of those who seek with lamentation.

422. It is good to be tired and wearied by the vain search after the true
good, that we may stretch out our arms to the Redeemer.

423. Contraries. After having shown the vileness and the greatness of
man.--Let man now know his value. Let him love himself, for there is in him
a nature capable of good; but let him not for this reason love the vileness
which is in him. Let him despise himself, for this capacity is barren; but
let him not therefore despise this natural capacity. Let him hate himself,
let him love himself; he has within him the capacity of knowing the truth
and of being happy, but he possesses no truth, either constant or
satisfactory.
