I'm off today, cause I had a doctor's appointment and figured I'd just make
a day of it. (Not like I work anyway, but that's another story.)
So my mom calls yesterday and asks if I can come by and help her out. She's
going up to visit Hatter (actually Spokane) and need some audio books
copied to her mp3 player. (She has a Meizu 4Gb model that works with
Linux.) Apparently it isn't showing up in Konqueror when she plugs it in.
I go over and bring my laptop. Of course, I bought the thing for her so I
know it works in *nix, since I tested it first. I have a Sansa 4G model
myself, and bought her this one because it was easier for her.
In any case, I try hers out - sure enough it doesn't work. then I notice
she's got two usb plugs and a cable is also connected to the second. First
thing I try, I unplug the one usb cable (mini) and plug the mp3 player
(ultra mini) into the other usb port.
Sure enough, it works.
I asked her - did she ever think to switch plugs?
The answer was, no. Since the one plug was for her camera and it didn't work
on the other usb port, she never bothered unplugging it.
I explained that since her camera didn't work on the first usb port, the mp3
player probably wouldn't either, since it was most likely busted.

I was rather bored tonight and was messing around with NSV. I thought,
"how cool would it be", to stream NSV to an FB account. Apparently if
you add the MP3 Player by Da Xue, which I did, you can stream media to
your FB profile. Reading the FAQ provides some information.
Step 1) Install Winamp
Step 2) Play a radio cast then look at its properties
Step 3) Copy the URL for the stream. It should have, ";stream.nsv"
appended. If not do so.
Step 4) Copy the URL info into mp3 player for off site playback. Don't
forget to add a desc.
If all works out fine people can now stream your station of choice on
your page.
Not a hack... but interesting... how to circumvent firewalls pertaining
streaming audio is a plus. I worked at a college that prevented
streaming audio from other sources yet this uses typical internet port.

And you decided to post it here? Why is it that you xpost every little auk
or alt.flame thing that you disagree with in alt.2600 that does nothing but
irritate us?
