On my home computer (not this one), I deleted a foreign language support and
since then it does not want to accept Microsoft security updates.
I went to the Microsoft problem solving page entitled: 'Cannot install some
updates'

The first method to try was as below
Method 1: Rename the Edb.log file
Rename the Edb.log file, and then try to install the program again. To
rename the Edb.log file, follow these steps: 1. Click Start, click Run, type
cmd in the Open box, and then OK.
2. At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER:
ren %%systemroot%%\system32\catroot2\Edb.log *.tst
when I typed in the required command above and it said it did not recognise
it.
I did not know what to do about that, so just ploughed through all the other
methods on that page none of which worked. Finally I did the 'repair'
re-install.
