But you haven't missed DOAC. My request, even though unnamed yet.

You are forgiven. At least you didn't say it was by The Kinks.
True Story.
A thousand years ago when I was young, me and a couple of mates were in
the local dance hall getting drunk and wondering why the girls would nave
nothing to do with us, when we stumbled across a young couple of our
acquaintance.
They were newly wed and obviously deeply in love and all that stuff but
they passed an hour with us, eventually heading off to do what young
loving newly married couples do. But they made a mistake.
They said that if we ever needed a place to lay our heads, we were always
welcome at their place. What they didn't mean was at one o'clock the next
morning. However, when the dance hall kicked out and we had no way of
getting home, we remembered Dave's kind invitation.

I knew it was released as a single handed record by Dave Davies - I have
got a copy of it somewhere..

Wonderful story, Mick.

I pride myself on my memory but as I wrote that, I simply could not
remember the name of Dave's wife, but I have it now. It was Jenny. Dave
and Jenny. Such unbridled happiness.
Until.
One of the two mates and I were out for a pint about a year later. We
decided to venture away from our usual haunts and ended up in a country
pub, miles from anywhere.
We walked in and sat at the bar, ordered our pints and settled in for the
long haul. Suddenly John muttered something like 'Don't look now but look who is over
there'
Well I just turned around and stared. At Jenny. The same Jenny. In a
corner booth, snogging the life out of another man. Who we also knew.
After a while they realised that we were there and came over, very
sheepishly and pleaded with us not to say anything.
To our credit we said nothing to no-one. Till now. But it all ended
acrimoniously anyway. One whole year of wedded bliss.
