Me! Me! Me! :-D

I've been listening to Andy House since about 6:15. I'm just musing on
Gary's first choice of "Beach Baby". That brings back a few memories.

I didn't catch who did it - I may have been right cause I said to
Wolfgang (who was in for a short visit9 that it may have been the Rubettes..

It was a band called "The First Class". The singer, Tony Burrows, was also
the singer for Edison Lighthouse, White Plains and the Brotherhood Of Man.

Thank you Enzo - I destinctly remember the song too, and it was indeed
the voice from "Edison Lighthouse". Don't mention "Brotherhood OF Man",
though..

So... there's a Tony Burrows motif to tonight's show...

..That may well be the case - but with Mr. Gary one can never really be
sure. Next two hours' featured fabs will be The Kinks, or so I read.
Did you know that at the time I was a Dedicated Follower Of Fashion?

"Beach Baby" always makes me think of a cruise that I took in 1982. Our
cruise ship, the SS Uganda, had an onboard radio station which got piped
through to all the dormitories. You couldn't switch it off! Luckily they
never played anything really annoying. There were a number of songs that
got played over and over again. "Beach Baby" by The First Class was one of
them. Others included "Drowning In Berlin" by The Mobiles, "Some Guys Have
All The Luck" by Robert Palmer, "Tunnel Of Love" by Dire Straits and
"Heartache Avenue" by The Maisonettes. Any one of those instantly brings
back memories of the cruise...
