..I was always under the impression that it was pronounced
"Fothering-hay". But hey - what do I know about pronunciation, come to
think of it..

It should *really* be pronounced "Fungy".

I'm not kidding. It's one of those weird names that are pronounced totally
differently to what you would expect. Like:

Cholmondely - "Chumley"

Featherstonehaugh - "Fanshaw"

Cockburn - "Coburn"

Grosvenor - "Grovenor"

Mainwaring - "Mannering"

Marjoribanks - "Marshbanks"

Home - "Hyoom"

St John - "Sinjen"

Wodehouse - "Woodhouse"
