Why should you be? It's possibly quite a nice album.
My listening choice this evening is 'Magic' and it is.

It's a single. I've now moved on to a number of different versions of "Love
Potion Number Nine" (The Coaters, The Searchers, Lee Towers, Herb Alpert &
the Tijuana Brass and The Seamonkees)

It's a good album in comparison to work by other artists. But it is nowhere
near Springsteen's best work. Springsteen has released three exceptional
albums in a row ("The Rising", "Devils & Dust" and "We Shall Overcome") This
one isn't quite up to the same standard.
I think the problem is that the E Street Band never actually got together.
All the members of The E Street Band seem to know what each other is
thinking and they tend to spark off each other. The band...

Never much liked that song. The Searchers version was OK back then but
then back then I was a frightful Searchers fan. They did *nuthin* wrong.
Back then.

I seem to have lost Devils and Dust momentarily. It's undoubtedly in the
same place as Highway 61, which I also cannot find. Be that as it may, I
can only agree that it's not as good as The Rising.

I'd love to hear the mythical "Electric Nebraska". The legend says that
what we got to hear on "Nebraska" were Spingsteen's demo tapes. The album
was recorded in the studio with the E Street Band but those tapes have been
deep-sixed - supposably.

Which would be a shame. Whatever the reasons for choosing the set that got
released, the E Street tapes would have made a great release some time in
the future.

I know you already think I'm a Philistine so I can hardly make things
worse, so I'll admit that no matter how hard I try, I can't get to like
that album very much. Or The River. I bought BTR when it first came out
and loved it. Bought 'Darkness' and 'The River' and pretty much decided
that Broos was a one album guy. And then (and I know you won't much like
this either) I heard 'Born in the USA' and the rest is history.

Have you boys tried pandora.com? I know it's been around awhile, but I just
recently discovered it. I think it's great.
