Barbara, I've wondered the same thing on this particular one because it was so vague, and also because other musicians were discouraged from doing a tribute to Rene when he first passed. Reasons given at the time were that Rene didn't want to be the object of a benefit, and the family wanted time to grieve. All good things, but I was hoping for more information when his former band announced an official

It wasn't a "benefit" concert held yesterday for Rene Solis, Hi Barb: It wasn't a "benefit" concert held yesterday for Rene Solis, but a "tribute" by his band members and fellow musical friends.  Rene was adamant about not wanting any type of "benefit."  The concert not only included his old band members but the participation of his wife, who spoke very briefly at the end.  I cannot begin to answer
