After trying to work with Acrobat v7 a bit longer, I see that it was actually too generous of me to say that the pasted text box lands at the bottom of the window. That is true for the first time the text box is pasted on another page, but if you keep trying to paste the same text box on subsequent pages of the PDF, subsequent pastes appear lower and lower on the page and you have to scroll the window
