Using FTP to upload the site may corrupt the extensions. Uploading the _vti* folders with FTP will 100%% corrupt the extensions. If you have done this and the server runs on Unix the only recourse is to remove the extensions from the site, use FTP to delete any _vti* folders that remain after the extensions are removed, then re-install the extensions. The subweb will have to be re-created
