Jonah, I don't know where you're from so that makes it a bit difficult. It's very early in the nesting season (for here, anyway) so far. You may have some birds just thinking about building a nest (so there wouldn't be any eggs yet) or you could have some species that build more than one nest and let the female choose (I believe some wrens do that). If it's still building the nest and there are no eggs, why don't you just take the box down and prevent any further problems for birds who might use it? I have an old delapidated bird house nailed to one of the posts on my front porch. It was made and hung there by an old friend who has since died. It was crudely made to begin with and the years have not improved it but it does have a certain folk art charm and sentimental associations. Once again a Carolina Wren has decided to build a nest in it. It is situated where any passing predator
