we often hear commentators--even on the right--speak of the need for equality of man and woman in a marriage. of course, there should be equality under the law. in our modern era of social peace, prosperity, security, and prevalence of law, there should be equal political and legal rights for all. in the past, when social reality wasn't secure, it was understandable that man had more authority
