Steve, I got Buddy's newest CD. I like it. However, I would not say it is close to his best work. But it is better then listening to most of the "stuff" that is on the radio around where I live. Also, I agree with your statements on B.B. King. Which also makes me very interested in his newest CD, coming out in a few days, which is all cover songs. -Rocky --- On Sun, 8/17/08, Steve

I can't believe this....Buddy Guy is a hack? Full of jive? bullshit? Buddy Guy is a consummate performer. A living legend...a blues great!!! Hellooooo..it's show business people. Sheesh. In a message dated 08/17/08 17:35:24 Eastern Daylight Time, pat@PATBOYACK.COM writes: Opening for Thorogood "tragic and somewhat disturbing"? I can think of many more things that can be explained

He's earned the right to do whatever he wants, and I bet he's having fun. Were we all so lucky to be doing that at his age or any age. And I think it's cool that he doesn't consider himself too big to open for George. Local bands aren't even that humble when it comes to who opens for who. The opener for George probably sounded like a fun gig with guaranteed crowds, so why the heck not do it?

I've seen Buddy about a dozen times over the last 20 years and the "shtick" that all the hardcore blues-lovers on this list complain about is part of what makes him as famous and wealthy as he is. Almost every well-known blues guitarist has been a part of pandering to the audience and doing whatever it takes to generate a strong response, from T-Bone to BB to Albert Collins to SRV to

Opening for Thorogood "tragic and somewhat disturbing"? I can think of many more things that can be explained by those terms. Child abuse, murder, genocide...etc. Yes, Buddy is a hack, he's full of jive, bullshit...and he's filthy rich. Go figure. I've seen the "two sides of Buddy" too. Its sad and I believe if he had been true to the music like BB King he might need not to open for George
