...board may just lift the bar a bit. A few on here may remember a bloke called Freddy Laker and how he grew BUA ( the launch customer for BAC 111) Had a lot to do with making the VC10 what it was . We dont have any aviation CEO like him any more -Branson is cut from different cloth Highly commend a book called Fly me Im Freddy . wonderful read for airline and/or aviation buffs

...bad, when they were taking off the noise was continious, in mid summer especially noticable, as the noise of one died away the noise from the next became auidable and building. Mostly BAC111, 727, caravelle, VC10 early 707's. Viscounts were also noisy bastards. Now the noise is not nearly as bad. I was in Bermuda, moored up, not far from the runways end and there is a daily freighter...
