Der Beginn der TeX-Geschichte stimmt m.W. so nicht ganz. Knuth hat TeX nicht entwickelt, weil er ein Buch über Compiler schreiben wollte. Sondern der Anstoß war eigentlich die zweite Auflage zum 2. Band von "The Art of Computer Programming", die komplett neu gesetzt werden musste. (Die 1. Auflage der Bände 1-3 war mit einer Monotype-Maschine gesetzt worden, die der Verlag allerdings verkauft
