Here is a sample command for the log parser to count the Status 200 (OK) hits on all documents with the extensions .pdf, .doc. and .csv over the past month. logparser "SELECT TOP 5 cs-uri-stem, COUNT(*) AS Hits INTO DocumentHits.xml FROM <Default Web Site> WHERE Date > TO_LOCALTIME( S UB(SYSTEM_TIMESTAMP(), TIMESTAMP('0000-02-01', 'yyyy-MM-dd'))) AND sc-status = 2 00 GROUP

To get that you will need to write code to check the IIS logs (which you may need to tweak to log more information) and run statistics on the logs. My recommendation would be not to do it at run time, but do a nightly job that analyzes that day's logs and dumps the stats to a database, and then use a web part to display the top 5 either of the day, week, month, year or all time best. you
