The idea with the suitcase-packing is brilliant! As are voiceovers in general, as long as they're not essential for the solution of the game per se. Otherwise you'd be making an interactive audio book. Maybe THAT is the future of IF. Just add some speech recognition... Anyway, if you're sticking to text, you could print the flashback text in italics, a different colour, or use a second text
