"In my opinion it is proved beyond all doubt that the Báb ere his death chose him as his successor, duly appointing him as such by the form of words which I published at pp. 996-997 of my second paper on the Bábís in the J. R. A. S. for 1889, and that during the period which elapsed from the Báb's death till the advancement of Behá'u'lláh's claim to be "Him whom God shall manifest" (i.e. from

About 20 years ago, I came up with a list of eight forms of the eternal Covenant. I don't have the sources readily available, so I will post the list without substantiation. It reads pretty straightforward to me. 1. The Greater Covenant between God and His Prophets 2. The Specific Greater Covenant regarding the Bab 3. What comes to mind is that the judge forgoes of Remeyites argument that they indeed were in that court because of Remey's claim and that they claim the right to his successorship. whether they were in the previous court or not should appear a secondary matter. The other interesting issue appears to be that now they play Fred's 9 denomination game, though they actively and with all their might

Hi Richard. Of course successorship is important for more than just itself. Successorship includes the "much more" of legitimizing those successors, and all they do, and all they will do. But I am talking about the "much more" of what the Covenant itself asks of us and promises us. Here is a paragraph I wrote to Mark: "It just seems to me that a document named by Baha'u'llah the "Covenant"

In a description of some of the activities of Abdu'l-Baha as Center of th e Covenant, Shoghi Effendi indicates how that Covenant is more than what on e would expect by looking at the successorships of Ali and of Peter, as examples. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kent Johnson" <kent@compx2.com> I don't dispute that practically all Baha'is believe the Covenant of Baha'u'llah is a successorship, but I think it is much more. Thanks for reading. Kent, one cannot rationally take issue with your above statement. The "much more" liies in the choice of Abdu'l-Baha as the Center of that Covenant and the authority

Hold fast to the fear of God and firmly adhere to what is right."... I am tempted to quote here the entire Book of the Covenant here, it is not long, and it is full of exhortations, teachings and
