Lets assume you have tables StudentGroups and Leaders, with the latter having a foreign key StudentGroup column referncing the key of the former, then you can use a series of subqueries, each restricting its result set to one row by means of a further subquery, e.g. SELECT StudentGroup, (SELECT Leader FROM Leaders AS L1 WHERE L1.StudentGroup = StudentGroups.StudentGroup

It's perhaps a bit early to say, but it looks as though you're right. Once I'd got my head around exactly what it was doing, I used the SDS code from your book, so I hope I'm not running into any copyright issues here. I don't think it will give you too much trouble. I just wish ADSI would do the "right thing" and do the range expansion for you. Range retrieval is put into AD for perf reasons, but most of the time you'd really rather have the full membership in the property collection so this worked as expected. Even having an option to turn that behavior on would be good, but as of now the behavior does
