My question/comment was in response to what seemed to be an unusually low virtual memory setting of 2MB. It wasn't intended to "fix" his problem. I set the min/max to the same number to keep Windows from constantly resizing the swap file. Once it's created on a defragmented drive (or it's own partition), it never becomes fragmented. An instant dropout on a midi file has nothing to do with virtual memory, especially when you consider that everything worked ok in the past like you said. You have a serious problem that is very likely a file or setting corruption. Go to the Cakewalk website and you may find a solution there, but it's a long shot.
