Gwen, I have heard of PC's not booting without a CD/DVD in the drive, but usually what you describe is something that comes along with some sort of protectionist panic feature, as has been said. One other instance, however, is if the simulator has an option to completely, or in part, 'execute' from the CD/DVD in order to save space on the PC! This is clearly an option that might tempt you with

It is Microsoft Train Simulator, with the photo of the orange BNSF engine on the packaging. Stevey says that MS TrainSim doesn't require insertion of the CD to run, so I'm wondering if I missed something on the setup. I installed MS Flight Simulator without a hitch. If I need to insert the CD before the game will run, then is there any point to having the program installed on my laptop
