True songwriters write songs and usually record them. I have talked to a few Beatle tribute bands. Few write and none can write good stuff let alone Beatle sounding songs. In fact, can anyone write a good melody today, let alone

Musicians universally despise the "they sound like so-and-so" comment. They spend years crafting their art, and some aspiring journalist hears a few cuts, and brands them as a soundalike cover band. With Pink Floyd, there was virtually no obvious predecessor. But there was the everpresent sound of Richard Wright's keyboard, binding the parts together, its majesty infused with psychedelic tranqility

< I mentioned Agent Steel here last year and was surprised no-one had heard of them. I thought they were fairly well known back in the day - especially as they were basically Priest sped up! I love their 80`s albums, especially The Unstoppable Force and the Mad Locust Rising EP. Saw them live at the Hammy O with Onslaught and Nuclear Assault back in the day. They`ve reformed and

Hi Ian, Thanks for answering me . . . I hoped someone would! I am of course a longtime metal fan, a singer in a Classic Rock / Metal band -- very much a JP fan as Halford is definitely my biggest vocal idol. I like all the decent singers (whatever happened to the bands that had people who could actually sing, anyway?), Robert Plant, Steve Perry, Rik Emmett, the guys in bands like Firehouse

The Elvis associate sued him, I believe, over the fiction. I'm not sure the associate
