When I had that error I was forced to reintall IIS and the MP. It also just up and happend one day. One thing I did try at MS behest was to verify the IUSER and IWAM accounts and do a resync (you will need to lookup that proceedure). Hope that gets you started. No, nothinig new installed. I got my answer in that the "View" was set to "Raw" and not plain text. I didn't do this so I don't know how it happened, but all seems to be back to normal now.
