This is one of better recordings if not the best he has put out so far from DG, and possibly his last one from them as well (their contract was not renewed). Contrary to most critics' view, I actually like his Ravel better than the Prokofiev, which is part of the reason why his recently Northern American tour was often characterized by his spiky, harsh, ugly tone, considering he's also touring
