Trier er som bekendt en romersk kejserby og har meget at byde på. Jeg ville bruge een dag (med offentlig transport) til vinsmagning i garager og udhuse hos private små-vinavlere langs Mosel - evt i Luxemburg, som også har fortræffelige hvidvine. Det nærmeste tyske rødvinsområde ligger omkring Ahrweiler, og en tur dertil kan kombineres med: Mellem Trier og Rhinen mod nordøst ligget en række
