Thanks. I downloaded VLC and it plays the vob file and the mpg file very well. But, I would still like to play it with Media Player so I can use the Windows Media Center. Any other ideas? I changed the extension to .mpg. It worked a little - Media Player opened the video and played it for a minute or so, then skipped a little, then skipped a lot and stopped. Try downloading VLC for windows at http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ it works on my wife's Vista Basic machine. I am running Vista Ultimate and could previously playback DVD files (VOB) in Media Player.I recently installed the Vista codec pack and now cannot play back DVD file (but can still play back DVDs). I guess it's the codec pack which is the problem, I've tried uninstalling it, but still have the same problem. Is there some way to clean install Media Player for Vista or to uninstall and reinstall
