Thank you Keith! I haven't built a guitar (yet?), but understand enough of the electronics that - as you say - magnets hardly have any noticable consequence on the sound. But gauge of wire and number of turns certainly have and the pickups I have are surely very much different (SingleCoil, Humbucker, Humbucker in SingleCoil format, P90). Maybe I'll record my tests and put them on the web.

Choose your pickups by how hot you want them. Take 10 pickups wound with the same gauge wire, the same amount of wraps and from 10 different builders. You wont be able to tell them apart. Theres just not enough parts to them

Hi, I would like to learn more about a single coil pickup that is said to come from a Fender American Telecaster, no information on a particular model or time of build is available. The pickup has a metal cap measuring 9mm x 65mm, the base plate is black plastic with the overall dimensions of 20mm x 79mm, the no. on the bottom side reads 048609. It has obviously been potted in wax. DC resistance

<conkersack@googlemail.com> wrote in message news:1175115996.435013.156070@p15g2000hsd.googlegroups.com... Seems that Derv and SteveH are showing off their back catalogue of wheels, so I thought I'd start a competition to find out who has owned the worst/best nail. I'll start: 1. 1978 Chev Impala station wagon in white (first car I owned) 350 (5.7l) V8, rear wheel drive
