delete appoints

My employer is asking that we reduce our Outlook storage on the server by not keeping e-mails and by deleting past appointments from our Outlook calendars. Can I set Outlook 2003 to automatically delete past appoinments on a regular basis so that I do not have to individually delete every single appointment? It is partiularly annoying because many of the appointments are recurring.
