Herb Pomeroy's band in the early 60s was a thirteen piece band, with a much different book and flavor than the earlier sixteen piece group. The great lead trumpet Lennie Johnson went with Quincy Jones' and later Basie's bands, The book had many charts by Mike Gibbs, Chris Swansen, Arif Mardin and. of course Herb. Sam Rivers was the major tenor soloist, as well as both Dusko Goykovich

There were at least two other big band albums under his name: "Band in Boston" and "Pramlatta's Hips."
