Oh, come on. Don't tell me folks from Ontario never visit civilized countries. You know, like the UK and France and Mexico and Cuba? I realize the poor guy lives in a country that is currently run by a bunch of paranoid psychotics, but we're not that bad... Ok, maybe we are, but you could include the cost of getting a passport to make us paranoids happy in the instructor's fee. Peter Boylan

Patricia, I'm wondering if it would be useful for you to speak with a specialist who custom makes orthotic shoes. You should be able to explain to the specialist what movements are involved including Seiza and other positions and have a shoe customized for Iai. (I.e. considerations that Kim mentioned). Your posting caught my eye as I have had ankle reconstruction surgery for a broken ankle

Hi Patricia I've got a student who has just had to start wearing shoes, and we have a visitor each year at the May seminar who also wears shoes. I'd have to ask but I believe both of them are wearing a black leather training shoe, pretty lightweight without much in the way of a grip sole. They might even be "martial arts shoes" if those things are still around. Not much help but check out
