they're not, technically, reserving or stealing RAM. They're reserving memory addresses. It's a subtle, but important difference. The RAM is still there. But there's no way to get at it because the memory address for it is going to the PCI card. If you have a 64bit OS, you have the ability to remap what the PCI cards are doing and shove them up over 4GB. But doing that with 32bit Windows
