What exactly are you trying to update how? The WMP installer is standalone, you can download it on one PC and burn it to a CD or even just simply use a USB memory stick to transfer it. =) -- Speaking for myself only. Click Start, Run and enter REGEDIT Go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Media Center In the right pane, locate the Ident value. Compare the value there to the version of MCE 2005 you have with list found here: http://salloway.org.uk/mediacenter/2004/version.htm If your's is missing or incorrect, double click the Ident value and enter the correct version

I would think you would want to protect the computer from the internet viruses and spyware with a firewall. Hi all: One of my pc's is used only for a server for my media. I am tired of all the windows updates and anti-virus updates and file scans. If the only time the pc connects to the internet is in the middle of the night to download the Media Center guide, do I really need to constantly update Windows and the anti-virus programs? Its just Windows Update. But, with that said, many MCE updates are not Critical or Important updates, so won't be pulled down via Automatic Updates.
